DAY 1 - FRI 13TH - TRAVEL TO MARRAKECH

We arrived at school at 9.30am and took the school mini-bus, driven by Mr Smith, to Gatwick Airport. Our flight was at 3pm and after 3 hours 30 mins we arrived in Marrakech. We were met by our guide for the trip, Yahya, who took us to the hotel via mini-bus which was only a 15 minute drive. After going to our rooms and freshining up we all met up at 7pm and walked to find a restaurant for dinner. Many of us had pizza and some had Tagines. It was very hot, around 30'c in the evening! After the meal we headed back to the hotel and met at the poolside for a little briefing and then everyone headed off to bed at around 11pm.

DAY 2 - SAT 14TH - MARRAKECH TO OUKAIMEDEN

We were up at 7:30am for breakfast in the hotel. There were croissiants, panckes, and fresh orange juice amongst a few other food times. We left the hotel at around 9am and headed to Oukaimeden by mini-bus. On the way we stopped for a drink and enjoyed the views. After arriving at the campsite 11:45am we all steup our tents and had some lunch - bread, salad, eggs, sardines, cheese - in the food tent along with some mint tea. We then had some time to chill out. At around 3:30pm we headed off for a circular trek to help assisst acclimatisation. It started raining, thundering and lightening so we had to put our waterproofs on. On the way back to the campsite, many of us bought a snack from the little shop where they sold a number of items. Snickers were 6 dirams (£0.36). After arriving back at the campsite many of us played catch and/or football along with our guide and muleteers. After a little rest we were served tea and mint tea. Some of us decided to go and checkout some of the carving in some nearby rocks. Dinner was served at 8pm - we had soup, bread, beef, vegetables and hot drinks and apples. Meanwhile, outside it got very windy, little cold and more rain. We were in our tents and ready for bed by around 9:30pm.

DAY 3 - SUN 15TH - OUKAIMEDEN TO TACHEDIRT

Breakfast was at 7am - bread, cereal, hot drinks. After packing and putting tents away we left the campsite at 8:15am and headed for Tizi-n-Eddi (2960m) before descending to the village of Tachedirt to our accomodation (a Gite) for the night where we arrived at 12pm. The day was quite windy but was good as the sun was out at times as well. The Gite was a very nice and new place to stay; however there were some problems with the generator so we had to use our headtorches at night and the showers were cold for many but we managed. Lunch was served in the dining room at 1pm - bread, cheese, sardines, pasta, sauce, salad and melon. We then had the rest of the after noon to relax - many of us played cards, had a nap, did some reading, had a shower. Mint tea and biscuits were served once again. We had dinner at 8pm - soup, bread, couscous, vegetables, pineapple and hot drinks. We were in our bedrooms for around 9:30-10pm.
